IBSF Latvia – Irish win 4 from 5 on Day 5

There were more success for the Republic Of Ireland Snooker Team here in Latvia on Day five with 4 wins from their 5 matches at the 2013 IBSF World Snooker Championship here in Daugavpils.

First off today was Shane Gorman when he had a superb win over highly rated Alain Vandersteen from Belgium 3 frames to 1 for what goes down to his best ever International win.

Next it was Mark Tuite when he played his best snooker so far in a fantastic 3 frames to 1 win over Jörg Schneidewindtfrom  Germany for his fourth win from 4 matches.

Stephen Merrigan was beaten by Belgium 3 frames to nil but he goes into his last match knowing a win will get him through to the knock out rounds.

Michael Judge had a comfortable 4 frames to nil victory over Tomas Puodziunas from Lithuania and Brendan O Donoghue played great snooker again tonight in one of the best matches of the day in beating Indian Shahbaaz Adil Khan 4 frames to 2 to stay unbeaten in his group with 5 wins from 5 matches.

David Hogan had the day off and the Knock out rounds start on Thursday and as National Coach and Team Manager I have to congratulate these six Irish players so far on their performance as the standard is so high at this year’s championship.
