The 3rd Ladies ranking event was held in Q’s Clondalkin on Sunday 4th December. Michelle French drew Michelle Sherwin again this month in the semi-final. This was a tough match for the current number 1, as her opponent kept right up with her in all frames right up until the colours, but the reigning number 1 showed her experience and managed to close out the frames to win the match 3-0.

The quarter final in the other half of the draw was aso a re-run of the last tournament, with Treasa Keegan taking on Sandra Bryan from Gorey.  As always there was nothing to pick between these 2, each frame being fought tooth and nail till the end, but today again Treasa won out, winning the match 3-0, setting up another semi-final against current number 2,Claire Mill.

This was as intense a match as you will ever get.  Treasa was playing brilliantly today, her long potting was exceptional, and her safety game had tightened up. This match could not have been closer the whole way through. At 2-2, in the final frame Treasa had a 12 point lead and was ont he black after potting a superb red, when she fouled the black and swung the game back towards claire.  Treasa gave away 18 points in fouls in quick succcession, but was brought back into the frame when claire fouled a couple of times.

Claire fluked a snooker with the colours left on and Treasa got out of it on her 3rd attempt, but she was trailing by 26 points at this stage.  to her credit she brought Claire right down to the wire, but Claire closed out brown and blue to leave Treasa needing 3 snookers,at which point she conceded the match.

This set up the 3rd final of the season between Claire Mill and Michelle Sherwin.  Claire was exhausted after her match with Treasa and allthough she put up a good fight, Michelle just proved too strong on the day to win the final by 3-0.  The presentation was made by Mr. Pat Peppard from Q’s S.C.

Many thanks to Q’s club and staff on the day.  the ladies would like to wish everyone involved in Snooker a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.
