Thomas wins Intermediate Championships

The Final of the Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association Intermediate Snooker Championships was held in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow on Sunday afternoon the 7th of May.  The final was between Brendan Thomas from Roadstone SC and Colvin O Brien from Ivy Rooms SC after both players won their semi finals in the morning. The final was live streamed all over the world.

In the final Colvin and Brendan played great snooker but it was last years European Masters Runner up 62 year old Brendan Thomas who won the title 5 frames to 3. The final Referees was Paddy Hanifin. The Tournament high break went to Benny O Brien with a superb 92 break

In the Semi – finals earlier in the day Brendan Thomas beat Ivor Fitzpatrick 4-2 and in the other semi final Colvin O Brien beat Shane Bates 4-2

No.1 Intermediate Ranking

Benny O Brien from Kilkenny Shed finished the season as Irish Number 1 on the Intermediate Rankings for 2016- 2017

The RIBSA Senior, Intermediate, Junior Snooker & Billiard National Championships National finals are also being played on the 6th – 7th of May during RIBSA Championships finals weekend in the Ivy Rooms SC.
