Griffith €3,000 Snooker Tour 2012 L-r Ronan Deegan & Dave Seales (Winner)

The 5th Tour event took place in the Ivy Rooms Carlow on Saturday 23rd June. The number 1 seed Gary Seales went out 2 nil to Ronan Deegan in their quarter final match. Dan Carroll had a close match against Paddy Fagan and went through 2 nil to meet Ronan in the semis. In the bottom half of the draw Dave Seales was fighting a hard match against Robert Rogers but came out the eventual winner 2-1. The number 2 seed Annette Newman saw off Larry O'Dea 2-1 to give her a semi final place against Dave. Ronan was in fine form in his match against Dan Carroll with breaks of 28,30,41 along the way to win 2 frames to 1 to give him his second final place on the tour. Annette took the first frame in her semi final match with Dave but Dave came back to level 1-1 the third frame was scrappy going all the way to the pink and black with Annette needing both but Dave took on a long pink to take him into the final. The final was a good match with Ronan starting well with a break of 34 and good safety to take the first frame however Dave was playing good snooker and leveled 1-1. In the 3rd and final frame Ronan had his chances to take the match but missed a vital shot on the pink to let Dave in to finish and take the Griffith Plate title and most important give him the points needed to get into the money prize position of 3rd place. So far the top 4 places are Gary Seales number 1 on 530 points, number 2 Annette Newman on 500 points closely followed by Dave Seales on 470 and Dan Carroll on 460. In the plate final Larry O'Dea beat Paddy Fagan 2 nil to give him the important points to get into the plate ranking money prize in 4th place. With 24 points and 8 merit points Paddy Fagan now holds the number 1 spot with Dave Seales and Robert Rogers all on 24 points. With only merit points separating all 3 players it is still all to play for during the next 3 events of the season.

Congratulations to Dave on his win and to Larry winning the plate and to all our players for their support. Thanks to Marian ,Jim and staff of the Ivy Rooms for again providing excellent playing conditions for our events.
