Full Information on the Draw
RIBSA have had meeting over the summer months and have come up with a few initiatives for this season. Our first fundraising event is a ticket sale and we are appealing to all snooker/billiard players and officials to come on board and support this as it will bring in essential revenue to support our international qualifying players during the season.
We will also be supporting the officials/referees and those players who do not qualify or win events during the season but are always there to support the game and we strongly feel that even though we appreciate and need our best players to represent us at the highest level we also need those players who also year in and year out take part in events and do not qualify.
RIBSA will be inviting those who have never qualified for international events or have not benefited from events in monetary terms to an event at the end of this season all free and with prize money as a thank you for your support. This will be finalised at a later date. So as was stated at our AGM we want everyone to step up to the mark and support, it will be very much appreciated by us.
This has to be a concerted effort on behalf of us all to make this work. Tickets are on sale soon and available from the Ivy Rooms Carlow.
Best wishes and thank you for your support
Dan Carroll, Ger Murray, Ernie McMullen, Niall Scully
RIBSA are keen to have representation from all regions on the committee. To this end we are looking for volunteers to the RIBSA committee from the West, South/Southwest and North East regions. We need volunteers who are willing to help in running tournaments and promoting snooker in your region.
A lot of the work of RIBSA is conducted by e mail and can be carried out from home.
Interested volunteers will need an e- mail address and be able to put up reports etc. on the RIBSA web site.
If you feel you would like to be involved on the RIBSA committee please feel free to contact the secretary Tony Thorpe 085 1987379 or
The 2012/13 season is nearly upon us and the committee have been working hard over the summer taking on board all the suggestions that were put forward at the AGM at the start of the summer. We now have a draft calendar available for you to view from either the download section at the bottom of this page or from the Calendar Menu item at the top of the site.
Be aware that as this is a draft some events might possibly change due to unforseen circumstances so check back to the site regularly for the updated calender. As always we will be printing a final version ASAP.
Also we have the players letter to view below which lists out all you need to know for the new season. Along with these we have the player and club membership forms.
The RIBSA AGM will take place this Saturday in SportHQ , Joyce Way, Parkwest Business Park and a large contingent is expected to attend this year to have their say on the future running the organisation and makeup of future events.
Thus the committee have published a number of the 2011/2012 reports and some proposals that have come in so people can have a read beforehand and thus a greater proportion of the meeting can be given up to the floor so people can have their say on the coming season and beyond.
Referees seminars will take place in the Ivy Rooms Carlow on Tuesday nights 15th, 22nd and 29th May at 8.00 pm. Any person interested in becoming a snooker or billiards referee can attend. If you are interested or cannot attend these seminars please contact Ger Murray at 086 2450509 or by Email at
