Ladies National Championships - Sherwin Vs Keegan 23rd May 2010

Sherwin Wins 2010 6 Red National Snooker Championship

Venue : Celbridge SC 16th May

The 1st ladies national 6 red championships was held in celbridge on sunday 16th May. Matches were played in a round robin format, 3 frames per match, with 1 point being awarded per frame.

The top 4 on points after the round robin phase went through to the semi-finals. The semi-final line up was as follows. Michelle Sherwin V Cathy Dunne, and Michelle French V Catherine Fitzsimons.

Cathy Dunne made a welcome return to ladies snooker today. She struggled a bit tofind her form today but came on strong at the end of the round robin phase to book her semi-final place. Her semi-final match against Michelle Sherwin was a hard fought contest which michelle won 3-0, but it could have gone either way as all frames were won by Michelle on the black.

In the other semi Catherine Fitzsimons who qualified for the final in 2nd spot, made light work of Michelle French, hardly giving her a chance as she kept up her great form that day, winning the match 3-0.

Catherine was well up for the final and must have fancied her chances, as she had beaten Michelle 2-1 in the round robin stage.

Michelle was just too strong in the the final though and went on to win the match 4-0.
