BENNY O'BRIEN WINS INTERMEDIATE NO. 1 ( South East )
Benny O'Brien from Kilkenny SC won the first Intermediate Ranking event
of the season in the south east region when he beat Joe Corrigan from Waterford SC 3 frames to 2 in a superb final in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club In Carlow
Both players were ranked No. 1 and No. 2 seeds for the event and they
confirmed their seeding in reaching the final.
The High Break prize went to Joe Corrigan with a fantastic 59 break in his second
round match against Ernie McMullen.
Daniel O'Regan and Patrick English had a good event in reaching the semi finals
before losing to Joe and Benny.
New Junior Elite RIBSA Squad players Andrew Doherty and Dylan Scully started
off their new snooker season with a good performance in reaching the Q-Finals.
I would like to thank Marion and the staff of the Ivy Rooms for the excellent facilities
on the day and to Joe Robinson for refereeing all day.
Finally, I would to thank the players and I look forward to seeing them again in Event 2
in Waterford Snooker Club in Tramore on Saturday the 24th of October.
