Well done Ireland – Junior Home Internationals

The Irish under 16’s won their final match on day four of the Under 16 Home Internationals in the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds when they beat Wales 7 frames to 5. Noel Lander started things off with a great 2-1 win, Ross Bulman lost 1-2, Jason O Hagan won 2-1 and the match went down to  Ronan Wight and he won it 2-1 to give the Irish a fantastic win and earn second place in the event.

A special word must go to Ronan Wight who stayed unbeaten in the event and to Noel Landers who finished in 4th place and Ronan finished in 5th place in the overall player stats. Team Manager Brendan Cooney said he was so proud of all the boys and he was delighted to finish in second place as they pushed England all the way.

Under 21 Event

The final day of the U-21 Home Internationals in the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds was a disappointing day for the Irish boys as they were beaten 8-4 by England. Stephen Bateman was beaten 1-2, Aaron Moyles won 2-1, Adam Fitzgerald lost 1-2 and Darragh Cusack lost 0-3 to give the English the win 8 frames to 4.

Team Manager PJ Nolan said that the boys done well in the event this week but we have to improve more to win this title. Well done to Stephen Bateman and Aaron Moyles for finishing in 7th and 8th place in the overall player stats. Each season we are getting closer and our players are improving and I was very proud of them all.
