Day 3 of the 2017 Junior Home Internationals Snooker Championships in the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds had mixed results for the Republic of Ireland Under 21 and Under 16 Snooker Teams where they played against Wales, Scotland and France.
The Under 16 Team of Ross Bulman, Aaron Hill, Aaron Goldrick and Ryan McGuirk still remain unbeaten and today the boys beat a top Welsh team 8 frames to 4 to set up a great chance of winning the U-16 title tomorrow.
At the moment the Irish U-16 team stand one frame ahead of England B with one match remaining. Ireland play England A at 1pm and England B play N. Ireland at 11am so it looks like it will go down to the wire tomorrow.
The Under 21 team of Shane Bates, Noel Landers, Aaron Holland and Darragh Cusack had a great start to the day with a fantastic 8-4 victory over Scotland but the boys were beaten 8-4 by France in the Afternoon session to end hopes of winning the title. Ireland play their last two matches in the morning with N. Ireland at 9am and England at 11am.
National Coach PJ Nolan said the Irish Under 16’s go into tomorrow’s match with a fantastic chance of winning the title which was last won back in 1995 and each player will give it 100% in each frame and he is delighted with the performance of the boys.
