Brendan O’Donogue from the New Institute Snooker Club in Nenagh came out victorious at the 5th points tournament of the season in Celbridge Snooker Club on Sunday 12 Feb. In his semi-final Brendan overcame Mark Tuite(Q-Club, Killarney) by 4 frames to 1. However, The other semi-final went all the way with local player Joe Delaney beating Rodney Goggins by 4 frames to 3 in a thriller.
Both players started the final well sharing the first two frames, Brendan then upped the pace and went in 3-1 ahead at the break. Joe hit back to make it 4-2, but not to be denied Brendan won the next two frames finishing the match with a well controlled 70 break to record a famous victory.
The highest break in the event was shared with David Cassidy and Keith Sheldrick with 110 Break.
Tony Thorpe on behalf of RIBSA congratulated Brendan and Joe on their fine performances; he also paid tribute all the players who entered the tournament and thanked Phil Martin and his staff for their hospitality over the weekend. The Masters Cup and the prizes were presented to the players by Joe Woodland from the host club.
